WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY?

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is the most effective treatment option for relieving the most common symptoms of menopause.

In addition to alleviating typical perimenopause or menopausal symptom such as night sweats, hot flashes, and mood swings, our hormone replacement treatments for menopause provides:

  • Improved Libido and Better Sexual Performance – Our menopause patients see an increased sex drive, less vaginal dryness, and report more satisfying sexual experiences.
  • Increased Energy and Stamina – Our approach to hormone therapy has been shown to increase metabolism, which boosts your ability to turn fat into energy.
  • Improved Memory and Cognition – Hormone therapy for women has been shown to improve memory, focus, and concentration.
  • Stronger Bones – Hormone therapy for women leads to stronger, healthier bones and decreases your risk of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a common and serious complication of menopause.

HOW HORMONE THERAPY WORKS

Hormone therapy works by replacing the levels of your critical hormones so they come back into optimal balance. In the case of hormone therapy for women, you are taking prescription medication to replace the estrogen that your body stops making during menopause. Hormone therapy is most often used to treat common menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes and vaginal discomfort.

Our doctors use bioidentical hormones. Bioidentical hormones are made from all-natural sources, and are they are safer and more effective than the synthetic hormones made by large pharmaceutical labs. As the name implies, bioidentical hormones are exact duplicates of the hormones naturally produced by your body; therefore, they are better absorbed and tolerated by your body than synthetic hormones. Your bioidentical hormone prescription will be custom compounded to your exact symptoms, goals, and lifestyle.

What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Age-Related Hormone Loss in Women?

There are many signs and symptoms of age-related hormone loss in women. The symptoms of menopause can start even before a woman has had her last period. This time when symptoms gradually appear as estrogen drops is known as perimenopause. Symptoms before and during menopause include:

  • Hot Flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Insomnia
  • Dryness and thinning of the skin and particularly the vaginal area
  • Diminished sex drive and loss of sensitivity to stimulation
  • Hair Loss
  • Anxiety
  • Forgetfulness that may include an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease
  • Depression and other mood changes

Symptoms also include the potential loss of bone density and increased risk of heart disease.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect From Hormone Replacement for Women?

As with any medical treatment or procedure, your individual results of hormone replacement will vary. Generally speaking, it usually takes a few weeks before you will feel the initial benefits of HRT and up to three months to feel the full effects.

Over the course of that time, you will see improved sexual wellness, increases in energy, relief of menopausal symptoms, a reduction of “foggy thinking,” and an overall improved sense of well-being. Most of our patients experience little or no side effects from hormone therapy. You will be carefully monitored over the course of your program, and any issues or side effects you experience can usually be eliminated simply by adjusting your type or dosage of hormone therapy.

Common Questions About Hormone Therapy for Women

What Is Menopause?

Menopause is technically defined as that point in time 12 months after a woman’s last period. In the years leading up to that point, changes in their monthly cycles, hot flashes, or other symptoms may start. This the time commonly referred to as “the change,” or what doctors refer to as “perimenopause.”

When Does Menopause Start?

The menopausal transition or perimenopause usually starts between the ages of 45 and 55. It usually lasts around seven years but can last as long as 14 years. During the menopausal transition, the body’s production of estrogen and progesterone, two hormones made by the ovaries, varies greatly, causing many of the familiar symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings.

What Results Can I Expect From Your Menopause Treatment?

Restoring hormonal balance with our unique menopause treatment has helped many women make the transition to this new phase of life much more bearable. While under our HRT treatment, most women find that mood swings, anxiety, and depression are usually eliminated entirely. They also report “feeling good” and experiencing an overall sense of well-being. Improvements in sex drive and sexual satisfaction are common, as well as improvements in memory and cognition.

Is Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women Safe?

Yes. There was a time when it was reported that hormone replacement therapy for women could increase the risk of heart problems or of developing breast cancer. But these conclusions were largely based on flawed studies that were done decades ago. As long as you follow your doctor’s instructions and are carefully monitored over the course of your HRT treatment plan, hormone replacement is still the best way to treat age-related hormone loss or other hormone imbalances in women.
